Nature is the Best Artist
I often say, Nature is the best artist. I mean, just look around. No person could possibly think up the colors, the textures, the shapes that are everywhere in the natural world. From plants, and flowers, to animals, even the landscape itself. It's honestly amazing, everywhere you look. Recently we were walking through a forest, and found some branches with the most colorful and interesting lichen. I've seen this many times before, but that day, I picked the branches up and brought them home. The next day I found some beautiful purple wildflowers, and decided I needed to do a lichen, flower, photo shoot. A study of color, and texture if you will.
One thing I have always liked about photography, is it really makes you take notice of the things around you. Setting up a still life photo shoot is slightly different than the spur of the moment shots, like wildlife, or the setting sun, but it forces you to slow down, and really get an in depth look at your subject.
All the different colors, textures, and shapes become a mini world that just begs to be explored more closely. It's easy to get kinda lost in that little world.
Nature is fragile, resilient, eternal. It's always been here, and hopefully, always will be. Sadly, it's easy to look around and see the destruction, and reduction of nature, and wild places. What a horrible thing it would be to completely lose all that natural art, and beauty.
Sometimes life gets busy, too hectic, and way too stressful, and we need art and nature to balance all that out. So take that walk in the woods, or the park. Sit on the bank of a stream. And while you're there, notice all the beautiful and unique art that nature has provided, just for us to enjoy.
